Work With What You Got

I essentially have one simple thought to share today which I already gave away in my title. "Work with what you got!" There always seems to be something we feel we lack in whether it's time, money, talent, intelligence, beauty, possessions, clothing, jewelry, shoes, you name it. But more often than not, we have plenty on-hand to create something fun! And that is what today's outfit post is about. Nothing new or overly fancy. Just me using the things I had on hand to put together something fun to wear. photo 7_zpsa986f759.jpg photo 4_zpsfef7d7d4.jpg photo 6_zps450d2bf2.jpg photo 5_zps8b76a03d.jpg photo 1_zps07cacdd7.jpg Earrings - Thrifted
Wallet/Purse - Gift from my sister-in-law (Thank you Brittany!)
Necklace - Handmade (by my sister)
Blouse - Anthropologie
Dress - Target
Jeans - Papaya
Boots - Shi Shoes

Pssst, forgive the battered nail polish. Time to redo those was something I didn't have. (wink wink)

Happy Tuesday all!

Peachy-Keen

With summer quickly slipping away, I thought it'd be fun to share one of my favorite summer outfits from 2013. This peachy ensemble took the cake! The light-weight fabric and silky texture are oh so comfy and the color really could not be any peachier... photo 3_zpse4bf4116.jpg
I think I may just have to try adding a sweater and scarf, maybe switch out the leggings for some jeans, and carry this "peachiness" right into the next season. What do you think? photo 2_zpsdcc8ac38.jpg Could it pass for fall? Maybe sub in a pair of fun boots? Definitely going to try it. And if it's a success I'll be sure to post pictures.
Ah yes, and what outfit is complete without a bit of accessorizing? Some gorgeous earrings always seem to do the trick. And a fancy ring of course... photo 1_zpsff1d3433.jpg Tank - Target

Sunny Windy Weather Walk

One of my favorite things to do as a family is walk. This week we had some beautiful walking days. Pure blue skies... photo 5_zps41bf4503.jpg
It was a little windy I admit. But I know I'd be in big trouble if ever I complained about that. I'll take sunny windy weather over snow and cold any day. photo 8_zps780aa739.jpg
I did some thrifting last weekend and was thrilled to find a five for fifteen deal on clothes. When I thrift shop I rarely find five items in one place that I like enough to buy, but I figured I'd scour the racks with a deal like that. After all, if I only liked four of the five items, four for fifteen bucks was still a fantastic price to me. Even three for fifteen didn't seem too bad. But wouldn't ya know it? God blessed me with five adorable items. Each $3.00 apiece. The heart sweater above is one of my five. I ultimately would love to style it with red skinnies and a fun patterned collared shirt underneath. But alas, I kinda like it this way too. What do you think? photo 3_zpscc1b9ffd.jpg

Which Way Would You Wear It?

Do you own a cowl scarf that can be worn two different ways?
photo 1_zps2b26c301.jpg Single wrapped? photo 1_zpsd2210d6c.jpg
Or double wrapped? photo 1_zps32410f81.jpg photo 3_zps674a52d4.jpg photo 2_zps3c21c26c.jpg Which way do you wear yours? And which way do you like better here?

I'm working on styling items that are currently in my shop. It's really such fun! Interestingly enough, I felt put together before taking these photos, but now that I look at them I feel the outfit is missing something. Or several somethings? Amazing how a photo offers a different perspective.

What do you think is missing? A belt maybe? Or long sweater? Or maybe a light jacket? Shoes of course, though you can't see that I'm barefoot here. Just couldn't resist the warm sun on my toes.

Hand Warmers - The Velvetleaf Boutique

I got dressed up for a day of shopping yesterday. We went to Sam's club to restock on paper products. Yippee! And then we headed to Target for diapers and a bit of clothes shopping. God blessed me with some new workout tops on the clearance rack. They're bright and fun and make me want to exercise which is just what I need at the moment.

This outfit was possibly a bit over-the-top for a simple Sam's and Target run; but I always seem to enjoy the trip more when I've put myself together. I realize now I completely forgot to accessorize (aside from the hand warmers) before stepping out the door. I find myself wearing very little jewelry lately. I used to wear necklaces quite often. Then I switched over to scarves. And I almost always wear earrings. Except on those days that I don't of course.

How 'bout you? What is your favorite accessory to wear?

Sunset Outfit Post

I haven't done an outfit post since before I was pregnant. I thought it was time since Jack is now eight weeks and I'm finally fitting back into my regular clothes. photo 3_zps250a73e2.jpg After a morning and afternoon cooped up indoors, my hubby asked if I wanted to try and catch a last-minute sunset. I quickly threw this outfit on and out the door we raced. photo 1_zpsba7ce1de.jpg
There is nothing like the glorious outdoors to refresh and get a clean perspective. photo 1_zpscf1e0ae3.jpg
We enjoyed gazing out at the ocean as airplanes flew overhead. photo 2_zps739089a5.jpg Taking photos ended up being really fun. We laughed at all the bloopers and just soaked up the presence of each other. photo 2_zps3cca6b50.jpg
I always find myself wondering why I don't do things like this more often. photo 5_zps308e8f95.jpg James carried little Jack in his baby bjorn and our sweet boy slept the whole time. Ah the view he missed... photo 3_zpsc9bfe0b1.jpg God's creation is so remarkable.

A Slip Cover for Me

What I'm wearing today. I finally finished it just in time to link up with The Pleated Poppy's What I Wore Wednesday... Photobucket
I've been working on this sweater for over a year. Don't worry, I took many many breaks. Photobucket Believe it or not, the part that took the longest was the sleeves. I know there really aren't any sleeves... But, I had initially intended to make long sleeves with a flair at the wrist. Photobucket After much trial and error, I finally concluded that a sleeveless sweater would be best. And the coolest part about a no-sleeve sweater is its versatility. I can layer it with a long-sleeved colored shirt when the weather gets a little chilly, or just go sleeveless in the sun. Photobucket
So cozy and soft. This is the first item I've made for my own selfish pleasure in quite a long time... Kinda feels like my birthday.

I only wish I had better photos to share. I did the best I could with the evening lighting and no tripod. Hopefully you get the general idea.

Happy Wednesday everyone.

A Sunny Colorful Day

A new scarf can add such a terrific pop of color to a neutral-toned outfit. Photobucket
Of course, having the ocean in the background doesn't hurt either. Photobucket  Photobucket Seriously, the flowers in California are so beautiful. I find a new one everyday it seems. Photobucket
Yet another lovely day... Photobucket Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about my little crochet project I've promised to share. It'll be coming soon...

A New Unexpected Outfit

This was a little treat of an outfit. Something i found when I wasn't particularly looking. In most cases, I would never recommend buying something you didn't realize you needed until you saw it. But, since the pants and top fit so spectacularly and the price was excellent, I could hardly resist.Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Dress - Plato's Closet
Black Skinny Jeans & Purse - T.J. Max
Earrings & Shoes - Target

p.s. I love the red seat cushion of the patio furniture. Such a great pop of color especially in that last photo. Makes me think I should accent the outfit with some red shoes next time...

Two In One

This is a two-in-one post. I was feeling artsy today and decided to put on a fun little outfit and paint my nails when I suddenly realized it was Wednesday. So first, this is a What I Wore Wednesday post. And...Photobucket
Second, this is a little show-and-tell post. I have never been a huge fan of the towel-topper towel until I made these lovelies per my mother-in-law's request. She loves towel-topper towels, and thought it might be a simple thing to make if I was struggling for gift ideas for her this Christmas. Little does she know I took her up on it!
Photobucket
And back to the outfit. Aren't hats just the best? The ones I especially swoon over have that wide brimmed feminine look. Unfortunately, I haven't yet mustered up the courage to wear one of those in public, much less to buy one I know I may never wear.
Photobucket
The buttons on these darling towel-topper towels come from my huge collection passed down by my mom. I could probably make a thousand or so towels and still have buttons left over.
Photobucket
My ring is a Feminine. Unique. New. design and is reminding me that I need to make more of them to wear and share with others.
Photobucket
Before I say my farewell, here's a quick peek at the back. Cute, no?
Photobucket
I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy today so if you're in the mood you can check out some other What I Wore Wednesday outfits!

Happy almost Christmas everyone...
